African T-Rex
( CARCHARODONTOSAURUS saharicus )
This species lived approx. 96-98 million years ago making it approx. 10x older than that of the Megalodon Shark. The African T-Rex is thought to be the largest meat eating predator to ever live on land, while the Megalodon Shark being the largest predator to ever exist on land or sea. The African T-Rex was larger in size to its North American T-Rex, but had a smaller brain. This however did not stop it from having a skull size equal to that of a human....5.4 feet in length. The African T-Rex is believed to have grown in size of up to 44 feet in length and some estimates have it weighing as much as 8 tons.
A creature of this size would need a constant food supply and being a meat eater it had to chew through both flesh and bone. This constant eating results in worn down damaged teeth with nicks, chips, and breaks. The average specimen is unearthed in multiple pieces due to the elements of nearly 100 million years of mother nature's toll on both the specimen itself and the earths constant changes. Most of the earths formation layers have shifted somewhat over time, causing once fragile intact specimens to break apart and thus needing to be repaired or restored.
Unlike Sharks Teeth where a fully intact ALL NATURAL specimen is not uncommon, the world of Dinosaur collecting is a whole different ballgame. Repairs and restorations are almost expected and that is why the specimens below are in a league of their own. Each specimen that I have listed below has absolutely NO REPAIR OR RESTORATION whatsoever. Each specimen is 100% all Natural and in their natural state of recovery.

This is out of my personal collection and the very best African T-Rex that I have been able to obtain in the last three years. I'd have to say that a good 95%, if not better, T-Rex teeth over 3 inches are found in pieces and in need of being glued back together. Finding one of this size without repair is truly a once in a lifetime find. The serrations are still a good 85-90% intact. This tooth is also very well fossilized at weighing just over a quarter of a pond. The chances of finding another of these for sale at this size is next to none. This is truly one of those specimens that I have a really hard time parting with. African T-Rex #10 |

Ultra Rare African T-Rex Jaw Section with two teeth. From my understanding the teeth located in the jaw section were found near the jaw but were not actually in the jaw at the time of the find. Jaw fragments are rare enough by themselves but finding the teeth actually resting in the 100 million year old jaw piece with be very unlikely simply due to once the soft tissue around the jaw erodes away....the teeth are then loose, and over millions of years the sediment layer does become shifted. Either way, this is a super rare specimen. African T-Rex #9 |

Extremely difficult to obtains specimens of this size without any repair or restoration. This one is 100% all Natural with absolutely no repair or restoration. I'd have to say that the tooth is slightly nicer than the pictures are showing....a little more color. Pictures look a little washed out. Just an amazing XXL specimen. African T-Rex #8 |

I absolutely love the colors on this one - super rich dark red with both orange and yellow mixed throughout. I don't think you can beat this one on colors alone. Blade is serrated and in excellent condition as can be seen from the pics. African T-Rex #3 |

My favorite tooth on the page and one of those specimens that you just have to hold in your hand to truly appreciate. The condition is beyond outstanding on this one with approx. 98% of the serrations fully intact. A degree of root intact and a slight twist to the blade as well. Just a killer African T-Rex. This is one for the serious collector. You can find them bigger but you'd be hard pressed to find one nicer. African T-Rex #2 |
