Best of the Best Associated pair of Mastodon Teeth (Mammut americanum) These two matched mastodon teeth (Mammut americanum) are from the same jaw of the same animal. They are “germ teeth”-meaning the teeth had just germinated into the jaw and did not suffer any wear from grinding as the animal died prior to damaging these molars. These two magnificent teeth have been in my friends possession since the late 90s when he acquired them. They were found by the legendary fossil collector/diver (featured in Robin Brown’s book Florida’s Fossils) Ben Waller. They were found south of Tampa in the Alafia River in Hillsboro County on 7/23/67. Mastodon tooth caps just don’t get any better than these, and to have found these two side by side while diving is remarkable. Sadly, Ben Waller passed away some time ago.

EXTREMELY RARE Bone Valley Tapir Jaw section As with the camel jaw listed below, isolated Tapir teeth and jaw fragments are not extremely uncommon but one out of the Bone Valley formation is very hard to come by. The teeth have fossilized a very nice mix of colors. There are four perfect teeth in this jaw section, as well as one tooth still inside the jaw that has obviously not erupted yet but is still very visible (and very cool to say the least). A very nice piece for those who like to add a mix of fossils to their growing collection. Location: Bone Valley, Fl. Item Number: MM6 |

EXTREMELY RARE Bone Valley Camel Jaw section Camel jaw sections are not unheard of but those from the Bone Valley region are extremely rare. For starters they are super hard to find and secondly collecting inside the mines has been off limits for a number of years now. There has been some repair (no restoration) on the bone segment of the jaw itself. None of the teeth have been repaired or restored and are super sharp. You can even see the outer sharp edge around each tooth. Super nice specimen. Location: Bone Valley, Fl. Item Number: MM5 |
