Megalodon Sharks Teeth -  Peru

Pic 2

L: 2.75

Looks as though the root was in several pieces when found and needed to be repaired and possibly restored in small sections.  So with that being said, yes, this is a repaired or restored Peruvian specimen but only to the root.  Blade and serrations are 100% all natural.   Blade is primarily purple in color with a nice mix of various colors throughout.   Serrations and tip are flawless.

At least a half dozen or so colors mixed into the blade of this one.  There does appear to be nickel sized piece of root corner on the back side that was reattached....that is just the way it goes with these Peruvian specimens.  Also looks to have three worn serrations up near the tip area on one side of the blade - tip itself is intact.  Its a give and take on this particular piece but it is a beautiful specimen from a very rare location.

One of the craziest looking teeth on this website -- a spotted Megalodon Tooth? You certainly do not see that very often. Has to be some pretty dramatic conditions for a tooth to fossilize spotted.  Obvious erosion to the bourlette area or else this specimen would be double in price..

Looks to be three, maybe four, missing serrations up around the tip but the enamel is glossy, the serrations are sharp, and the bourlette is fully intact....and seamless.

I do believe a small little piece on the upper corner of one root lobe has been reattached.....but maybe not?  Nice little posterior with great color and possible small reattached piece.

Nick to the tip and it looks as though some stabilizer has been put into the cracks here and there, which I do not like but is pretty much standard with these Peruvian specimens. As you can see from the pictures, this is a beautiful specimen.

Feeding nick to the tip but as you can see by just looking at it....you'll be hard pressed to find a better specimen than this from Peru.  I can not confirm or deny that a couple small superficial pieces of root hanging onto one side on the back have or have not been reglued. If they bother you that bad....flick them off.

Look at the visual appeal on this one.  The front side of this tooth is a "10" by any standard. Back side has a degree of erosion around the root lobe tips. There has been no restoration or repair on this tooth. Every last single serration is fully intact and razor sharp.  Tip is fully intact as well. But what I like Best about this specimen is the overall look to it. The coloration is very unique, even for Peru, and the enamel is super glossy, the bourlette is a good 98% intact, and the root is an usual orange color - all making for an outstanding looking specimen.

By far one of the "BEST" Peruvian specimens I have ever sold. The only flaw on this entire specimen is 10-15% flaking in the bourlette region, and that is it!  The remainder of the bourlette is a good 85-90% fully intact. The blade is absolutely FLAWLESS from the root to the tip. There is not a single nicked, not even half nicked, serration on this entire tooth. The tip serration is fully intact as well. The enamel is super glossy and exhibits ZERO peel.  The root is erosion free, break free, and crack free.  This tooth also has some of the craziest protective nubs you will ever see on any tooth.  This one is from my personal collection.

Peru is considered one of the hardest, if not the hardest, locations to obtain a Megalodon specimen.  Beautiful white and orange blade with a spotted bourlette. Couple worn serrations around the tip area but very minor flaw when considering the overall high degree of preservation that this tooth exhibits coupled with the rarity of such a specimen.

And yes, all Natural -- NO Repair, NO restoration, and NO stabilizer.

The back of this tooth represents a $5,000 specimen but the front represents closer to a $500 one. This is the only repaired tooth that has ever been on my website, and probably ever will be. The front of this tooth had some  erosion under the enamel and was filled in. This tooth was previously in the private collection of Steve Alters and then mine. The colors on this tooth are truly One-of-a-Kind. This is an Upper Principle specimen and the serrations and tip are 100% Flawless. There is a slight pathological twist to the tip but it remains PERFECT.  You will not find another tooth that even comes close to this one.  Nothing has been done to alter the size or color of this tooth. No repair work was done to the blade, serrations, or root. As stated above, only some fill was added under the enamel on the display side.

Very rarely does the opportunity arise for one to own a specimen such as this.

An absolutely PERFECT Blade on this XXL size specimen. The measurement is taken from tip to root lobe - not tip to matrix...obviously.  You will not find a single nicked, half nicked, or even quarter nicked serration on this entire tooth.  Can the matrix be removed? Good question.  Maybe with a Dremel and a diamond blade perhaps but I'd just leave it be. Still an excellent display piece and priced at less than half of what it would be without that matrix.

One small nick to the tip serrations itself but other than that...a damn near FLAWLESS Specimen. The blade on this tooth is as nice as they come. Outstanding Colors!

Next to impossible to obtain a Peruvian Megalodon of this quality anymore. The pictures should speak for themselves on this one. The only thing I will note is that a very very minor amount of stabilizer was applied onto the root. Why? I don't know because it didn't need it. But again, it is very minor and can easily be removed with a little ETOH soaking.
