World Record Auriculatus

Pic 2

L: 5.12

W: 3.48

T: 1.52

Not only is this the World Record but it is an absolute freak of nature by any standard. This specimen is the World Record, not by 1/100th of an inch, but by a landslide. This is the equivalent to unearthing an 8 inch plus Megalodon Shark Tooth -- it blows anything and everything out of the water in comparison.  Ever heard of anything even coming close to 5 inches?  Never!  This is an absolute Monster.  Is it Perfect? We should only wish to be that lucky. It is amazing that this specimen was even discovered...let alone expecting it to be flawless. There is some feeding wear to one side of the blade, as well as one missing cusp, but asking for this specimen to be without flaws would simply be asking to much. The root itself is damn near perfect and is over 1.50 inches THICK!  Like I said, an absolute Monster!  The enamel is glossy and a good 95% intact -- an amazing characteristic in itself.

Once while at Steve Alter's residence and holding his World Record Great White in my hand I asked, "What do you figure this thing to be worth?"  He replied, "Anything I want it to be....it is the World Record....there is only one."

 And he was right.

Sharks teeth are not rare coins or baseball cards. There is no independent third party to take these ultra rare specimens to and have them appraised. In a nut shell, this specimen's value, a World Record specimen's value, is determined by only two things....1) What price it will take in order to pry it from my hands and 2) What price someone is willing to pay to own it.

That is just a straight forward answer. I am not going to attempt to hype this tooth up on the hopes of selling it because to be honest....I don't care if it ever sells -- it's the World Record.

An absolute MONSTER sized Auriculatus.  The chances of seeing another one of this size is slim to none.  Degree of enamel peel on the front side but excellent serrations and two intact cusps...and at this size....they are never perfect.

The pictures seem to be a little washed out and showing the enamel to appear a little flat looking but not so....the enamel is very glossy and this is a true GEM Quality specimen from a super rare location.  Every last serration is fully intact, as well as both cusps and the tip serration itself.

Beyond Monster size!!!

Little more tip on this baby and you wouldn't be able to pry it from my hands.  This would clearly be a $3,000-4,0000 tooth with a little more tip.  The root alone on this thing is huge at nearly 3 & 1/2 inches across.  Just an amazing specimen.

This Ric is as sharp as the day it fell out of the shark's mouth. One single nicked serration is the only Flaw on this entire specimen.  Every last serration is razor sharp and both cusps are without flaw. If you can find a better one....I'd highly suggest you buy it.

Another amazing specimen out of my personal collection. I can guarantee you will NEVER see another one of these for sale.  This shark had a nasty abscess that actually began to heal prior to the tooth falling out of its mouth. Its hard enough getting your hands on an Auriculatus period, let alone a Red/Orange one, let alone a HUGE  3.15 inch Red/Orange one....let alone a Huge 3.15 inch Red/Orange one with a one of a kind abscessed tip.  This is by far one of the rarest Auriculatus specimens to ever be unearthed.

You simply don't run across to many Rics from the Northern Region of Florida with this color combination. The vast majority of them are very dark in color -- not a light shade of Tan that this specimen exhibits.  The root is super smooth, the enamel is very glossy, and the serrations are a good 98% fully intact and sharp. Excellent preservation all the way around.

This is not only an extremely large specimen from Florida but it is extra thick as well. The root on this thing is a whopping 1.15 inches alone. I've sold many 6 inch Megalodon teeth that don't match up to that kind of thickness. An absolutely amazing specimen. There is NOT a single missing serration on the entire blade. If you look close enough in the enlarged pictures of the tip then you will see a very tiny piece of enamel that has flaked off behind the tip serration itself. The tip serration itself is fully intact though--just a very small enamel nick that is virtually impossible to spot with the naked eye. The root is super smooth and is void of a single crack. Like I said, this is an amazing specimen. Very difficult to obtain an Auriculatus of quality.
